Windows 11: How do remove the File Manager right-click menu Edit in Clipchamp option?

Clipchamp is a default application in the Microsoft Windows 11 system. Microsoft acquired this web-based video editor in 2021 and then integrated it into the preview version of Windows 11 in early 2022. Windows 11 users can right-click in the file manager and find the Edit in Clipchamp option in the menu.

Not all users need Clipchamp. Foreign technology media GHackes shared a trick to remove it from the right-click menu of the file manager.

Method 1: Completely uninstall Clipchamp from the system
  • Select Start > Settings.

  • Switch to Applications > Installed applications.

  • Type clipchamp into the search bar at the top to quickly locate the app.

  • Click the three-dot menu next to the Clipchamp entry and select the Uninstall command.

  • Confirm the uninstall command.

Method 2: Edit the Windows registry, just remove it from the right-click menu
  • Open the "Start" interface.

  • Enter Registry Editor and display the results.

  • Confirm the displayed security prompt.

  • Paste the path Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shell Extensions into the top address bar.

  • If the subkey Blocked does not exist, right-click Shell Extensions and choose New > Key. Name it Blocked.

  • Right-click Blocked and select New > String Value.

  • Name it { 8AB635F8-9A67-4698-AB99-784AD929F3B4 }. This string is the GUID of Clipchamp.

  • Exit Registry Editor.

  • Restart the system.
